How the shop got here

  1. 1987

    Sandy opens the shop

    She had studied psychology, taken a job at someone else's print shop, and decided she would rather run her own. The first work came from people who trusted her. Don Farmer, the CPA, printed his seminar materials here, and Century Furniture became a regular. One relationship at a time, it grew.

  2. 1992

    Jimmy comes over to pick something up

    He was at Hickory Printing at the time. He came in for an order, met Sandy, and that was that. They married in 1990 and he came on board in 1992. Sandy ran the floor, Jimmy brought in the work, and her father came in to work the back after he retired. Between them they built the place up.

  3. 2013

    Best Local Printer

    Readers of the Hickory Daily Record voted the shop the best local printer in the Catawba Valley.

  4. 2019

    Banners, signs and wide format

    The shop had a machine that could do work other people around here could not. Billy got them set up properly on it, and wide format has grown into one of the biggest things they do some years: wall-size posters, and the training manuals to match.

  5. Today

    Same block, same counter

    The shop is still in its original building on 1st Avenue, run by the people Sandy taught. Somebody here still looks at every job before it runs and says the thing a web form never says. That has not changed since 1987.
